Free smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors will be distributed Saturday during a ribbon cutting ceremony and Fire Safety Day observance sponsored by the Jefferson County Mutual Aid Association from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sulphur Springs Park on Sulphur Springs Road (Arkansas 54), White Hall Fire Chief Sandy Castleberry said.

Castleberry said the ribbon cutting for the “Fun Park” will also include hot dogs and refreshments, and fire extinguisher and CPR demonstrations.

The White Hall Volunteer Fire Department is a member of the mutual aid association. Castleberry said individuals in need of smoke alarms-carbon monoxide detectors should call him at 247-1415, noting the devices will be available as long as supplies last.

The Redfield Cemetery Association’s annual meeting will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.

The White Hall United Methodist Church will host a fundraising fish fry on Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the church, located at 300 Church St. in White Hall. Dinners, according to Jesse Yarbro, chairman of the event, may be eaten at the church or ordered as carry-out. Included will be fish, chicken strips, french fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, beans and all the trimmings. Drinks and desserts will also be available.

Adult plates are $12; children, $7.

For more information, contact Yarbro at 692-1372, or phone the church at 247-1481.
