New Life Church to give away food
New Life Church in Jefferson Square will distribute food boxes March 16 beginning at 1 p.m. The lineup will start at 12:15 p.m., according to a news release.

House of Bread to host drive-thru
House of Bread Deliverance Church, 500 S. Main St., will give away food in a drive-thru setting Monday, March 15. Food will be handed out from 1-4:30 p.m. or until the 250 food boxes run out, according to a news release. Only one box per household will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Gould council meeting postponed
The Gould City Council’s regularly scheduled meeting on the second Tuesday of each month will be postponed until March 16 to obtain and research information to expedite city business, according to a news release.
Conference focus: Rural business
Providing rural residents with the skills and tools needed to create and expand small businesses and engage in job creation activities are the goals of the 2021 Southeast Arkansas Rural Business Development Conference.
The free conference will be held March 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. via Zoom. For participants without computer access, the event will also be held at The Vision Center at Lake Village. Space is limited and health guidelines will be observed, according to a news release.
Topics will include building effective business relationships, securing the right kind of capital, how to sell goods and services to the government, and how to use the services of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) to develop and/or expand a business.
A panel discussion will be moderated by Herb Lawrence, lender relations specialist at the Arkansas District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Chauncey Holloman Pettis, director of the Arkansas Women’s Business Center, will deliver the luncheon address.
