The Linwood Peel “Sounds of the Drifters” concerts scheduled for Oct. 17-18 at the New Community Theatre have been cancelled, according to Jack Stradley of the Community Theatre.
“We deeply regret to cancel these engagements and make this announcement, but Linwood notified us that he will be hospitalized to undergo treatment of a heart condition in the next few days and his recuperation period will stretch into the performance times,” Stradley said.
“He expects a full recovery and after recuperation we are mutually looking forward to rescheduling his show here at the Community.”
Drifters fans will remember Peel as the lead singer for the Elsbeary Hobbs Drifters of the mid-9os. The group was famous for classic tunes such as “Under The Boardwalk”, “Up on The Roof”, “On Broadway”, “There Goes My Baby”, “This Magic Moment”, and “Save the Last Dance for Me”.
“We wish Linwood a speedy recovery and look forward to making arrangements for his show at the Community Theatre in the future,” Stradley said.
The New Community Theatre in Pine Bluff has been restored to its early 20th Century appearance with the addition of state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems. For more information about upcoming shows, contact Stradley or Kathy Majewska at 870-535-2646.
