The governor and lieutenant governor will make presentations at upcoming events near National Vietnam Veterans Day, March 29.
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson is scheduled to lay a wreath at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the State Capitol, according to a news release from Sue Harper, public affairs and District 9 Veterans Service Officer at Monticello.
The wreath laying event is one of more than 15 gatherings scheduled around the state near the week of National Vietnam Veterans Day.
Veterans don’t have to register for the Wreath Laying at the Capitol. It is open to the public.
In Southern Arkansas, Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin is scheduled to speak at a Welcome Home Vietnam Commemoration at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Cullendale First Baptist Church at Camden. Locally, this event is being produced by Cullendale church, Ouachita County and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration honors all U.S. veterans who served from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, according to the news release.
The Camden event is open to registered veterans and their family members. Registered veteran participants will receive a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin and a certificate signed by Gov. Asa Hutchinson. Registration is necessary to have certificates signed for presentation at the event.
This event is part of the State of Arkansas, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs efforts to celebrate Vietnam Veterans with a ceremony in each part of the state the week of March 29.
