Music of Broadway fund-raising concert set Jan. 28

The White Hall High School Music Ambassadors and the Summit Sounds Instrumental Ensemble will present a fund-raising concert to help with expenses for the Ambassadors’ tour of Europe this summer.

“The Music of Broadway” will be presented at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road.

The concert will include classic tunes from popular Broadway musicals such as “The Music Man,” “Annie,” and “South Pacific.”

Sacred music will also be on the program — “Mary Did You Know?” “The Prayer,” and Sandi Patti’s arrangement of “Amazing Grace.”

“We open the program with the march, ‘Seventy Six Trombones’ and will conclude the concert with the title song from ‘The Sound of Music,’” program director, Lewis Hinkle said in a news release. “We are excited to present timeless classics from great musicals that have played on stages all over the world.”

The Ambassadors will join other high school students to form a large wind band that will play concerts all through Europe, according to the release.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door. Children 10 and under will be admitted free. For advanced tickets, call Lewis Hinkle at 543-0198.
