The Arkansas Municipal League has named Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington as District 4 vice president for the 2020-21 year.
Washington was among the new officers elected during the league’s 86th annual convention, held virtually Aug. 19-21, according to a news release.
Washington previously served on the Municipal League Workers’ Compensation Board of Trustees from 2018-20.
Other officers elected for 2020-21 include Mulberry Mayor Gary Baxter, president; Berryville Mayor Tim McKinney, first vice president; Cave City Mayor Jonas Anderson, District 1 vice president; Sherwood Council Member Beverly Williams, District 2 vice president; and Gentry Mayor Kevin Johnston, District 3 vice president.
Amid the uncertainty and health concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, the league hosted the convention and annual business meeting online. The convention featured a combination of live and prerecorded sessions with a focus on current events and timely programming for a remote audience of about 1,000 city and town leaders, according to the release.
