Man on parole arrested after police check suspicious truck

A man who is currently on parole in Sevier County was arrested Wednesday after Pine Bluff police responded to a report that a truck was parked behind a convenience store that was closed.

Samuel Brock, 56, was taken into custody after officers went to SOS Convenience Store at 3402 Old Warren Road at 3:45 a.m., Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Scott Norton said in a probable cause affidavit presented in district court Friday.

According to the affidavit, officers found Brock, who appeared to be intoxicated, inside the truck and a male and a female inside a a green dumpster beside the business.

A Reddy Ice machine in front of the store had the door open and police found three bags of ice in the back of the truck, along with a .22-caliber handgun in Brown’s right jacket pocket.

Store video showed Brown opening the ice machine and taking three bags out, and video also showed him putting a water hose belonging to the store in his truck.

Norton reported that he went to the adult detention center later in the day to interview Brock, who refused to get up and come out of his cell.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $5,000 cash only bond for Brock Friday after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with breaking or entering and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Brock said he would hire his own attorney.
