A $10,000 cash-only bond was set Monday for a man on parole who allegedly assaulted a paramedic trying to treat him.
Jefferson Count District Judge Kim Brigdforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Matthew Jordan, 25, with second-degree battery.
According to a probable cause affidavit from Detective Keith Banks, an ambulance crew was sent to 1115 S. Spruce St. Sunday in response to a medical emergency.
Jordan said, “they gave him bad synthetic marijuana (K-2)” and he was taken to the back of the ambulance so that paramedics could start treatment, according to a report.
Banks said in the affidavit that during the transport to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Jordan allegedly struck the paramedic on the left side of his face and right side of his torso with his fist and also allegedly grabbed the paramedics right wrist, causing ligament damage.
The paramedic was treated and released at the hospital.
Jordan was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
