A Pine Bluff man was killed Friday when a tree fell on the car he was riding in during a rain storm.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Roy Gene McCann, 64, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Deputy Coroner Eric Belcher at 6:44 p.m. The cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma.
According to a preliminary report from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Aldridge, McCann was a passenger in a 2016 Nissan driven by Cameron McCann that was eastbound on Princeton Pike in the 9200 block when a large tree fell and hit the rear passenger side of the vehicle, striking the elder McCann in the head.
The accident was reported at 5:55 p.m. and Kelley reported that the body was sent to Fuller/Hale South Funeral Services.
