Man accused of second rape in four month period

For the second time in four months, a Pine Bluff man has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman.

Demarcus Porter, 20, allegedly put an 18-year-old student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in his car on Oct. 11 outside the Harrod Complex at UAPB and drove her to the Wesley building on campus, Detective Marcia Oliver said in a probable cause affidavit presented in district court Monday.

According to the affidavit, Porter allegedly put his hands on the woman’s throat until she passed out, and when she came to, he allegedly choked her for a second time until she lost consciousness.

Oliver reported that when the woman came to, Porter allegedly handed her her pants and panties, said he was sorry and asked her to keep the incident between them. He then drove her back to the Harrod Complex and walked her in the building before leaving.

The woman told police she informed a woman at the desk inside the complex what had happened, and the woman ran outside and got the license plate number of the vehicle Porter was driving.

The woman’s parents took her to the emergency room at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where a rape kit was collected.

Oliver reported that when Porter was questioned, he allegedly said the sex was consensual and denied raping the woman. He also allegedly said he “choked the woman lightly because she liked to be choked.”

In June, Porter was arrested after he allegedly raped a woman in the back of a parked vehicle at Saracen Landing and was out on bond at the time of the latest incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit for that offense, Porter picked up the woman at her home and “felt the vibes that she wanted to have sex with him.” H allegedly told the victim to “put out or get out.”

Porter told Oliver the sex in that case was also consensual.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $100,000 bond for Porter Monday after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with rape.

He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Porter.
