The 20th annual George Washington Birthday Luncheon will be held Feb. 20 at the Hot Springs Country Club. The annual event is attended by colonial era heritage societies and people from across the state, according to a news release.
The featured speaker will be historian Carl Flowers, who will discuss “George Washington … an instrument in the hands of Providence.”
Flowers is a nationally known speaker and trainer who has delivered more than 1,700 management seminars to a various organizations and businesses, including the FBI, the U.S. Senate, Exxon-Mobil, Pepsico/Frito-Lay and many military installations, according to the release.
He was born and raised in Chicago and is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in mass communication. He lived in Dallas for 40 years, where he served as a vice president for several national direct-selling firms. He moved to Arkansas in 2022 and resides in Hot Springs Village with his wife of 41 years, Linda Beard Flowers.

The annual George Washington Birthday Luncheon is known for its annual presentations by renowned speakers who have researched a little known area, event or characteristic of George Washington’s life.
The Feb. 20 Washington luncheon is $35. The event has limited seating and no walk-ins. Seating will begin at 11 a.m. and the luncheon and program will start at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend. Colonial costume is optional.
To attend, participants should make checks payable to Belinda Jones and send them to 1305 Cambridge Road, Benton, AR, 72019-2380. Payments must be received by Feb. 14. No refunds will be made after that date.
The colonial era heritage societies group is comprised of hereditary societies such as the Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames 17th Century and other lineage groups representing the American colonial period.
