Locals enter UALR, CHI St. Vincent nursing program

Local students are part of the first class of a University of Arkansas at Little Rock and CHI St. Vincent collaborative nursing program.

Students selected for the fall 2017 semester include Morgan Collins, Jasmine Washington, Saige Davis, all of Pine Bluff, and Elizabeth Hurtt of Sheridan.

The Pathway Program, announced in May, is designed to provide students with training and career opportunities while addressing the nursing shortage in central Arkansas, according to a news release.

Each participant will receive a $2,500 per-semester scholarship. The nursing students are expected to graduate in December 2018 and begin working in spring 2019 after completing board exams. Graduates will join the nursing staff at CHI St. Vincent for at least 24 months.
