Local students awarded AGFC conservation scholarships

Several local students have been awarded conservation scholarships from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Scholarship recipients include:

• Brandon Baumhoer of Pine Bluff, a student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

• Patrick Rees of Pine Bluff, a student at UAPB.

• Kyle Rachels of Pine Bluff, a student at UAPB.

• James Rose of White Hall, a student at the University of Arkansas.

• Laci Webber of White Hall, a student at Henderson State University.

The scholarships are funded through the sales of conservation license plates. The popular and colorful plates feature Arkansas wildlife and cost $35 a year with $25 going to the scholarship program and $10 going to the Department of Finance and Administration.

The conservation plates can be obtained at any Arkansas revenue office when a vehicle is licensed for the first time or when its license is renewed.

Gift certificates for the plates can be purchased at the AGFC’s Little Rock Licensing Division in person, by telephone or by mail. The gift certificates can then be redeemed through the DFA. The plates can also be purchased through the DFA, Office of Motor Vehicles or the Special License Unit in Little Rock.

More information about the scholarships can be found at www.agfc.com on the Education web page or call 800-364-GAME.
