Local high school students compete in annual mathematics contest at UA-Monticello

Top mathematics high school students from throughout the region competed at the annual Arkansas Council for Teachers of Mathematics’ Southeast Arkansas Mathematics Contest hosted at the University of Arkansas at Monticello March 14.

First place winners were (bottom row, from left) Mason Rogers of Hamburg (Algebra I), Jacie Foster of Drew Central (Geometry), Jayda Preddy of Drew Central (Algebra II), Andrew Vondran of Monticello (Trigonometry/Precalculus) and Lincoln Hood of White Hall (Statistics.)

“The first‑place statistics award was earned by Lincoln Hood, who achieved an outstanding score of 96 on the exam. We proudly recognize and commend his exceptional performance,” a spokesman said.

Second place winners were (second row, from left) Tiesha Montague of Hamburg (Algebra I), Roberto Palmerin of Hamburg (Geometry), Charliann Burgess of Drew Central (Algebra II) and Eric Goss of White Hall (Trigonometry/Precalculus.)

Third place winners were (third row, from left) Luzmaria Mondragon of Hamburg (Algebra I), Lillian Snow of Drew Central (Geometry), Lauryn Welch of White Hall (Algebra II) and Raul Hidalgo of White Hall (Trigonometry/Precalculus.)
