With each new year, many proclaim out with the old and in with the new — new attitudes, new friends, but more commonly, new weight-loss goals.
Many resolve to exercise more and eat healthier, and so begins the journey of trying various diets will little success of maintaining an acceptable weight.
Debra C. Goldmon, a registered dietitian and owner of Tastesetter Eatery and Tastesetter Too, is set to launch a new, six-month, weight-loss program she says will teach people to, not only set goals and stick to them, but to maintain a healthy lifestyle long after they have completed the program.
Goldmon specializes in nutrition education and counseling and says her program, “Diet of a Lifetime,” is a “team approach to weight management that integrates diet, exercise and emotional wellness for a healthier lifestyle.”
Goldmon said a person “must be in the right frame of mind” when setting out to lose weight.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
“It’s not always eating that is the problem. It could be a number of things so we will address those as well,” she said.
Goldmon said in the initial consultation, a participant’s file will be established by taking body measurements, weight and height, and determining caloric intake. Based on the individual’s specific goals, a meal plan will be established.
“We will guide them into what they should be doing. While getting them into the habit of eating (healthy), they will be learning to do it for themselves. So at the end of the program it won’t be a big leap for them, it will be natural.”
In the program, participants will receive a personalized program designed to meet and maintain nutrition and exercise goals; lunch, dinner and snacks prepared fresh daily ($12-$15 per day) to be paid weekly; weekly tracking of progress and weight; monthly meeting with Goldmon for continual evaluation; two group classes; and ethical and safe life changes.
Participants must also pay a $25 per month consultation fee, plus the cost of food.
Goldmon said the goal of the program is to be “a permanent solution geared toward encouraging a lifetime commitment to making better choices.”
“Diet of a Lifetime” is set to begin Jan. 23. Those interested are asked to register by Jan. 20 by calling 870-536-1800 or e-mail at tasteseter@tastesettereatery.com.
