Livestock Disaster, EQIP aid workshop set May 13

Assistance available through the Livestock Disaster Assistance Program and the Environmental Quality Incentive Program will be discussed at a workshop in Eudora sponsored by the UAPB Small Farm Program.

Held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, the workshop will be held at the G.C. John old elementary school campus at 901 Baker St. in Eudora. The meeting will also provide EQIP sign-up assistance.

“Some ranchers have already been declared eligible for assistance from the program; all producers need to be aware of available assistance and whether or not they qualify,” Henry English, head of the Small Farm Program at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, said.

Some ranchers may qualify for assistance to help recover from past droughts.

Livestock producers with pastures may be interested in adding interfencing along water troughs for rotational grazing. EQIP provides cost-share financial assistance for inner fence installation, water tank installation, adding gravel or a hard surface to get to a feeding area, and other ranch improvements.

Contact Travis Collins, workshop coordinator, at (870) 355-7007 to pre-register to help with workshop planning. Lunch will be provided.
