The Arkansas-Pine Bluff volleyball team picked up its fourth win of the season and its second of the season over Mississippi Valley State with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-13) nonconference sweep on Friday night at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
UAPB (4-17) had a pair of Golden Lions finish with 10 kill apiece in Ayanna Parker and Whitney Harris. Katy Hufnagel finished the contest with a match-high 34 assists, while Courtney Brand led the team in digs with 13. In addition, UAPB had three other Lions to finish in double-digit digs in Parker (11), Hufnagel (11) and Jade Sanlin (10).
MVSU (1-18) had three Devilettes to finish with five kills apiece in Ilaisha Hale, Halle Gayten and Megan Jones. Brooklyn Hudson led the team in assists with three, while Kalin Barnes finished with a match-high 23 digs.
In the first set, the Lions jumped to a 17-4 lead, as they cruised to a 25-11 win to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
MVSU grabbed an early 6-2 in the second set. UAPB used an 8-1 run to take a 10-7 lead capped off by a Kayla Dowdell kill.

The Devilettes used a 5-2 run to tie the set at 12-12, capped off by a Bianca Watkins kill.
UAPB countered with an 8-3 run to take a 20-15 lead, capped off by a Parker kill, as the Lions held to win the second set 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third set, the Lions jumped out to a 12-6 lead, capped off by an MVSU error. The Lady Lions then extended their lead to 17-11 on a Brand kill. UAPB ended the set with an 8-2 run to win the set 25-14 and win the match 3-0.
UAPB will return to action next Friday against Valley in its first match of the Southwestern Athletic Conference roundup in a 9 a.m. start in Jackson, Mississippi.
