On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System, we wish to enthusiastically endorse the project and programs of Go Forward Pine Bluff. We firmly believe that voting YES to this tax proposal on June 13, 2017, would be a great leap forward for the City of Pine Bluff and its residents.
There have been questions that have arisen and we have studied the questions and the answers and we are satisfied as to the goals, controls, and effective use of these funds through the oversight of the City of Pine Bluff. The Pine Bluff City Council will control the approval of the tax revenues generated from this sales tax proposal. They would also control approval of private donations and any grants received. The funds generated by this tax will go toward meeting the vision of the overall Go Forward Pine Bluff plan that has been discussed and presented over the past five months.
The citizens of this community voted overwhelmingly in favor of the creation of a new library building to be placed in downtown Pine Bluff. We want this library building to be one of the cornerstones of the redevelopment and re-invigoration of downtown Pine Bluff.
The parameters as laid out by Go Forward Pine Bluff are, we believe, the best and most meaningful plan for the resurgence of our city’s educational system, economic growth, and quality of life. Everyone wants our city to become financially self-sufficient. Everyone wants our city to grow and become a tourist attraction on many different levels, which would bring in additional tax revenue.
Go Forward Pine Bluff spent well over a year with the input, guidance, directions, ideas, and creativity from hundreds of our citizens.
