For its May “Manufacturing and Economic Development” session, the 2024 Leadership Pine Bluff Class toured several industries.
Their first visit was to Pactiv Evergreen, where they learned more about the paper-making process. Pactiv creates several products, but the Pine Bluff mill is especially known for their gable top carton packaging that is found in many grocery stores. Think juice cartons, oat milk containers, etc., according to a news release.
The next stop was Sylvia’s Pizzeria on Sheridan Road where the group enjoyed local pizza.
The final stop of the day was Jefferson Industrial Park for a visit to Tyson Foods. The group hit the plant floor to learn more about the chicken-packaging process. After their tour, the group was treated to some samplings of the Pine Bluff plant’s most desired products, according to the release.

Leadership Pine Bluff is a program of the Chamber. The course consists of nine monthly day-long sessions.
“This issues-oriented program broadens participants’ perspectives, examines community issues, expands opportunities to develop friendships from all segments of the community and strengthens leadership skills. Selected participants have a unique opportunity to work with area CEOs, professionals, elected officials and other fellow leaders as they study leadership techniques and community issues,” according to the website.
In January, members of the 2024 Leadership Pine Bluff Class were named. They were Angela Adams, Carrie Bennett, Nicholas Brown, Kevin Bradley, Janet Broiles, Renee English, Yaisha Freeman, Tamela Garth, Bethany Gere, Natonn Harris, Lauren Heinzelman, Jennifer Holland, Venice McLemore, Alison Oliver, Tenika Nixon, Tiffany Penister, Lisa Ramick, Laura Sparks, Aaron Spencer, Evan Staton, Kelsey Thomas and Adam Triche.
