Monday was not too late for local professionals to take just a couple of hours to “Laff & Learn” for National Humor Month, which was April.

Retired sports official and college educator Bob “Hubba Jubba” Moss led a “Laff & Learn” seminar at the Alliance and Chamber office on South Main Street in Pine Bluff. National Humor Month, or as Moss terms it “National Laughter Month,” was founded in 1976 to enhance the quality of life all over the world, according to information from the seminar.

Moss, an expert on the benefits of laughter to overall health, posits that hearty laughter eases stress, lessens anger and serves as a tool for creating positive moments.

He also lists six ways to celebrate hearty laughs at home, work and play:

Use your favorite mirror to discover your best laugh face and then share it 10 seconds longer every day;

The most popular laugh is “ha-ha-ha,” so create your own special sounds of laughter;

Prompt those you influence at home, work and play to draw and color happy faces on the center of paper plates;

Create a collage featuring a dozen or so selfies of yourself fashioning joyful, wide-open-mouthed facial gestures of hearty laughter;

On your answering machine, post repeated sounds of selected hearty laughter; and

When you observe others flashing hearty laughs, commend them for the outstanding quality of their happy face, then ask them to show it again. (Most often, Moss says, folks will blush and not want to do so.)
