The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team completed a 26-24, 25-11, 26-24 sweep of Grambling State University on Monday at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
Junior Haley Gomez led UAPB with 13 kills on the victory, followed by sophomore Zyonn Smith with 11 kills and freshman Zykia Jones adding six kills.
Jones also served two aces.
Sophomore Nikole Akamine totaled 26 assists, with junior Vanessa Collins totaling 13 in the win. Junior Nyah Ellis had 28 digs, followed by Smith’s 14 and Akamine’s 10.
Gomez, who was the SWAC Blocker of the Year in the spring season, carried the same energy over to the defense with five blocks.

Grambling State led the first set 24-23, but a kill by Smith tied the score. After a service error by Grambling State, Kaila Robinson’s kill secured the first set for the Lady Lions.
Gomez dominated the second set with eight points for the Lady Lions.
Jones scored seven huge points in the set along with two aces to seal the third set.
UAPB will host Southern University at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
