MILWAUKEE — The Arkansas-Pine Bluff women’s basketball team fell to 0-6 with an 84-36 defeat against Marquette on Sunday. UAPB has now lost its first six games, all on the road, by an average of 42 points per game.
Chi Chi Okwumabua led the Lady Lions with nine points. She also grabbed seven rebounds, which also led UAPB. Fourteen players saw action against Marquette, with 10 playing for 10 minutes or longer.
The team turned the ball over 25 times and made just 9 of 24 free throws.
The Lady Lions also shot poorly from the field, converting just 13 of 53 field goal attempts. The Golden Eagles, on the other hand, made 24 of 47 shots from the field.
UAPB was able to secure 20 offensive rebounds, but was outrebounded 35-31 in the game. The Lady Lions recorded just six assists to go along with 25 turnovers.
Arlesia Morse led the Golden Eagles with 19 points. Three others, Katherine Plouffe (14 points), Apiew Ojulu (11) and Sarina Simmons (10) reached double-digit scoring figures in the game. Simmons also had 10 rebounds for a double-double.
UAPB’s next game comes at 1 p.m. on Sunday, when the Lady Lions travel to Kentucky to play the 10th-ranked Wildcats.
