Sunday’s University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s basketball game against the University of the Virgin Islands was canceled and will not be rescheduled, UAPB announced.

The school put out a brief statement saying the game was canceled “due to travel issues with the opponent.”

UVI is based in Charlotte Amalie West, U.S. Virgin Islands, on the isle of St. Thomas. The Lady Buccaneers haven’t played since traveling to Little Rock to face Philander Smith on Nov. 15. Their online schedule lists two games in Georgia since as forfeits.

UVI, a fellow historically Black university, was meant to be UAPB’s final nonconference opponent and would have been the third Lady Lions home game.

UAPB will return to action when the Lady Lions begin SWAC play on Jan. 1 against Alabama State at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff. They finish nonconference play 3-7.
