Kiwanis lieutenant governor to speak

Berinda Eugene, the lieutenant governor for Division 22 of the Missouri-Arkansas District of Kiwanis International, will be the speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff at noon Wednesday at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

A member of the Pine Bluff club, Eugene will give a report on her training session at Springfield, Missouri, recently.

In recognition of National Teachers’ Appreciation Week, the club is also honoring Lula Gray, a retired teacher from the Watson Chapel School District.

“She is being honored because she didn’t just teach academics, but also taught character and life skills in helping her students discover their greatness,” a spokesman said. “Many of her students have excelled in life and become doctors, lawyers and teachers, among other things.”

The club will also be honoring this year’s scholarship winner, Sha’nee Hulsey, a student at Pine Bluff High School who will be attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and major in secondary education.

Visitors are always welcome to come to a club meeting.
