The Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff recently awarded its annual $1,000 scholarship to Kaylin Smothers, a graduating senior from Watson Chapel High School.
Smothers will attend Southeast Arkansas College this fall, where she plans to major in radiology and minor in computer technology, according to a news release.
Smothers maintained a 3.2 grade point average and is a member of the Targeting Our People for Positive Success program.
“Her strong academic performance, commitment to personal growth, and active community involvement reflect the values of the Kiwanis scholarship program,” according to the release.

The Kiwanis Club awards this scholarship each year to a Jefferson County high school graduate planning to attend SEARK or the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, leadership, volunteer service, and extracurricular participation.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.
