The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) is seeking submissions to the annual Great American Cleanup in Arkansas Youth Poster Contest. The deadline is Saturday, Feb. 29.
The poster should focus on litter prevention, beautification and recycling efforts and/or litter-free communities, according to a news release.
Elementary teachers for kindergarten through fifth grade are encouraged to enter at least one poster from their classroom. Youth groups such as 4-H, the Boys and Girls Club and Scouts are also welcomed to enter the poster contest.
“We are re-energizing our annual spring poster contest and hope to double the amount of entries during this year’s contest,” said Mark Camp, KAB executive director.
Posters will be judged in two divisions, Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5. Each entry must have the student’s name, teacher’s name and email address, and school contact information.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
Posters can be drawn on any medium of paper but must 8.5” x 11” paper. Winning posters will be announced during Earth Week and posters will be featured on KAB’s social media. Additional prizes and display of posters will be announced near Earth Week.
“The youth poster contest provides teachers the opportunity to integrate litter prevention, beautification and recycling topics into their curriculum,” Camp said. “We hope this contest will be used as a tool to educate students about the impact of litter on our state and how students can protect our state’s natural beauty.”
The deadline is Feb. 29. Entries must be mailed to Keep Arkansas Beautiful, 1 Capitol Mall, Suite 4A-007, Little Rock, AR 72201. Details: http://bit.ly/KABContest.
