From approximately 8:30 to 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, Jefferson Regional Medical Center will host an exercise to practice their response to an active shooter emergency.
At 8:30 a.m., JRMC will announce the drill and all departments will follow through with the plans and procedures for emergency situations. The drill will last for two minutes.
Following the employee drill, the command staff and city and county emergency services will continue to practice making to protect people in case of an actual emergency. This portion of the drill will end at noon and in a few weeks, JRMC will receive an evaluation from the company conducting the drill.
“It is important for JRMC patients and visitors to understand that this preparedness exercise is not a real-life emergency,” a spokesman said. “Being prepared is important for the protection of hospital staff as well as JRMC patients and visitors in the case of an emergency situation.”
