JRMC names Positive Mentoring Award winners

Jefferson Regional Medical Center announced winners of the Positive Mentoring Award for nurses.

Shawn Raney, a registered nurse in the JRMC Emergency Department, was the first winner, and Shelly Thompson, also an ER registered nurse, was the second.

Honorees were named Jan. 18. The award is based on how many positive mentions a JRMC nurse receives in nursing student evaluation forms. The forms are given to nursing students from JRMC, Southeast Arkansas College, University of Arkansas at Monticello, and Phillips Community College who come to JRMC for clinical rotations. They work side-by-side with JRMC nurses to learn nursing skills firsthand.

The evaluation forms assess the student’s experience at the hospital and the nurse with the most positive mentions wins the Positive Mentoring Award and $250. After the first winner is chosen, another name is randomly drawn from the other nurses who had multiple positive mentions.
