Jefferson County Road Report for the week of 12-24-16

The roads that were repaired by the Jefferson County Road Department were as follows:

Dec. 16

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Hartley Dump Road.

Grader Operator: Graded Samuel Road, Providence Road and County Line Road. Graded Huntley Trail and spread twenty tons of SB2 on the road.

Boom Mower Operator: Cut right-of-way on Ray Road and cut grass in ditches on Gray Road.

Environmental Officer: Checked county roads for illegal dumping and trashy yards.

Pickups: Picked up cardboard at McDonald locations on E. Harding Avenue and Olive Street; at Sonic on Olive Street; and at Taco Bell on Olive Street. Picked up cardboard at Citi Trends, Tuesday Morning and Beauty Mania Plus in Pine Bluff.

Dec. 19

Culvert Crew: Installed a culvert on new road at Jefferson County Road Department. Cleaned out cross drain Pipe on Old Warren Road.

Truck Driver: Hauled 173.36 tons of SB2 Class 7 Base Course from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department.

Grader Operator: Graded McEntire Road, McIntosh Road and Kotchel Road. Graded Gray Road and spread forty-eight tons of SB2.

Ditching Crew: Cleaned out ditches on Middle Warren Road.

Sign Shop Operator: Put up road signs on Mail Route Road and Sullivan Road.

Dec. 20

Set up Crew: Tore down bridge on Gaddy Koonce Road and installed a cross drain pipe.

Grader Operator: Graded Ponderosa Road, Peaceful Valley Road, Willis Road, Brantley Road, Nesby Road, Boudra Drive, Rick Road, Altheimer East Road, McGaughy Road and Sultana Drive.

Ditching Crew: Added SB2 to cover washed out culvert in driveway on Shannon Road. Cleaned out ditches on Middle Warren Road and cut and removed a fallen tree on Sweeney Road.

Environmental Officer: Checked county roads for illegal dumping and trashy yards.

Cardboard is a big source of revenue for the recycling center. Businesses call to set up a pickup for cardboard at their location and it is picked up and taken to the recycling center on Gravel Pit Road where it is bailed for the source that has been contracted to recycle the cardboard.

The Jefferson County Road Department has a mechanic shop that does various mechanic jobs on the county’s heavy equipment. At times equipment breaks down on the job and a crew is dispatched to repair the equipment on site. Also cars and trucks that belong to Jefferson County are serviced and repairs are made in the mechanic shop at Jefferson County Road Department.

All logging companies and construction companies that haul heavy loads over the Jefferson County roads are required to be bonded in order to use the county roads in Jefferson County.
