Jefferson County Road Report for the week of 11-6-16

The roads that were repaired and work done by the Jefferson County Road Department:

Oct. 21

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Tamo River Road and Mabry Road. Truck Driver: Hauled 70.64 tons of B-Stone from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department. Grader Operator: Graded Morgan Road and Deep Bayou Road.

Oct. 23

Sign Shop Operator: Put pavement markers on Faucet Road.

Oct. 24

Culvert Crew: Installed a 13” X 40’ steel pipe on Hildersheim Road and covered it with eight yards of SB2. Set up Crew: Prepared Walton Road for a chip and seal surface. Truck Drivers: Hauled 260.355 gallons of CRS2 from Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions to Jefferson County Road Department.

Grader Operator: Graded Florene Road, the levee on Cornerstone Road, Providence Road, Shingle Mill Road, Wolfe Road, Jessica Drive, Nanci Cove, Chaney Road, Kimmel Road, Big Mo Road, Ty Lane and Peaceful Road.

Ditching Crew Cleaned out ditches on State Farm Road. Boom Mower Operator: Cut grass in ditches on Earl Chadick Road and County Line Road. Sign Shop Operator: Made a one call report for work to be done on Victoria Road. Changed the weight limit signs on Townsend Road and Willie Jackson Road for bridges.

Pickups: Picked up cardboard at McDonald locations on Blake Street, Olive Street and East Harding; at Sonic locations on Blake Street, Olive Street, White Hall and Watson Chapel; at Taco Bell on Olive Street; picked up cardboard at White Hall Fitness Center and Chicken City in White Hall, Watson Chapel Picture Frame Outlet, Beauty Mania Plus, Family Dollar, S.A.B.S and Dart’s Packaging Company in Pine Bluff. Environmental Officer: Checked county roads for illegal dumping and trashy yards.

Oct. 25

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Clemmons Road and county roads off of Hwy 65 South. Culvert Crew: Installed a 12” X 38’ metal pipe in ditch on Hargis Road and covered it with eight yards of fill dirt. Installed a 13” X 20’ Casin Pipe on McGarity Road and covered it with eight yards of SB2. Set Up Crew: Continued the resurface job on Walton Road.

Grader Operator: Graded Swan Lake Recreation Road, Lisa Lane, Melanie Lane, Bayou Meto Recreation Road. Ditching Crew: Cleaned out ditches on State Farm Road. Boom Mower Operator: Cut grass in ditches on Quattlebaum Road, McEntire Road and Chaney Road.

Oct. 26

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Tamo River Road. Culvert Crew: Installed a 12” X 20’ metal pipe in driveway on Victoria Road and covered it with eight yards of SB2. Two tons of asphalt was added to driveway on Tamo River Road.

Truck Driver: Hauled 43.10 tons of SB2 Class 7 PR from Arkansas Aggregates, 24.92 tons of Pea Gravel from Standard Gravel Company and 23.43 tons of C-Ballast from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department.

Grader Operator: Graded Morrow Road and Knott Island Road.

Pickups: Picked up cardboard at McDonald locations on Blake Street, Watson Chapel, Olive Street and White Hall; at Sonic locations on Blake Street, Olive Street and White Hall; at Taco Bell on Olive Street; picked up cardboard at White Hall Fitness Center and Chicken City in White Hall, Tuesday Morning, Citi Trends, Beauty Mania Plus, S.A.B.S, Watson Chapel Picture Frame Outlet and Dart’s Packaging Company in Pine Bluff.

Environmental Officer: Checked county roads for illegal dumping and trashy yards. Worked with constituent to pick up illegal dumping on Robinson Road.

Oct. 27

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Blankenship Road. Grader Operator: Graded Cantrell Road, Reynolds Road, Bennett Road and Wood Road. Boom Mower: Cleaned out ditches on McEntire Road, Becky Lane and Nanci Cove. Sign Shop Operator: Checked for missing signs on county roads and replaced the ones that were missing.

Cardboard is a big source of revenue for the recycling center. Businesses call to set up a pickup for cardboard at their location and it is picked up and taken to the recycling center on Gravel Pit Road where it is bailed for the source that has been contracted to recycle the cardboard.

The Jefferson County Road Department has a mechanic shop that does various mechanic jobs on the county’s heavy equipment. At times equipment breaks down on the job and a crew is dispatched to repair the equipment on site. Also cars and trucks that belong to Jefferson County are serviced and repairs are made in the mechanic shop at Jefferson County Road Department.

All logging companies and construction companies that haul heavy loads over the Jefferson County roads are required to be bonded in order to use the county roads in Jefferson County. They are required to have a copy of the bond on file with Jefferson County Road Department. If you have questions please call 870-534-7020.
