The Jefferson County sheriff’s office Special Response Team recently completed an intensive five-day tactical operations training program.
The response team is an elite unit tasked with responding to the most dangerous, high-risk incidents in the county, according to a news release.
The recent training program was designed to sharpen advanced skills required for high-risk warrant service, armed barricaded subjects, hostage rescue situations and other critical incidents where precision, discipline and teamwork are essential. This level of training ensures the team is fully prepared to respond rapidly and decisively when lives are at stake, according to the release.
The training focused on high-level coordination, rapid decision-making under extreme stress and controlled execution of complex operations. Deputies trained in realistic, scenario-based environments that reflect real-world threats.
The sheriff’s office is proud to announce it also extended this specialized training to Emergency Ambulance Services Inc. (EASI), providing their personnel the opportunity to participate alongside deputies and benefit from the advanced program, strengthening collaboration and preparedness across agencies.

Operations supervisor Clyde McDaniel and supervisor Shanna McDonel represented EASI in the training.
“Our Special Response Team represents the highest level of capability within the Jefferson County sheriff’s office,” said Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. “These deputies train extensively to ensure that when the most serious situations arise, the public can have complete confidence in their ability to respond professionally, decisively, and safely.”
Instruction was delivered by Arkansas-certified law enforcement instructors with extensive tactical and operational experience. All training met Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training requirements and was conducted under strict safety protocols to ensure the highest level of accountability and performance.
The sheriff’s office remains committed to maintaining an elite team that stands ready to respond when the stakes are highest and the community needs it most, according to the release.
