Jefferson County health agency among 12 to receive COVID-19 funds

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $815,428 to 12 health centers in Arkansas stemming from the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020.

A Jefferson County site is among recipients. HHS awarded funds March 24 through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), according to a news release.

In Southeast Arkansas, the centers and fund amounts include:

• Jefferson Comprehensive Care System Inc., Pine Bluff, $58,616;

• Lee County Cooperative Clinic, Marianna, $53,044;

• Mainline Health Systems Inc., Portland, $62,765;

• Mid-Delta Health Systems Inc., Clarendon, $53,247.

Health center recipients in Arkansas may use these awards to address screening and testing needs, acquire medical supplies and boost their telehealth capacity in response to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a news release. “Recognizing the urgency of the situation, and the important role health centers play in their communities, HHS is making funding for health center recipients in Arkansas available immediately.”
