The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

• L.A. DAVIS – ARAMARK, 1301 L.A. Davis Prexy Drive. Date of follow-up inspection Nov. 2. All violations corrected during time of inspection.
• FOOD HUT, 1501 Dancing Rabbit Drive. Date of inspection Oct. 29. Observation: Facility lacks test strips. Corrective Action: Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions.

• TACO BELL, 5501 S. Olive St. Date of inspection Oct. 29. No hot water observed throughout the establishment. Hot water generation and distribution systems shall be sufficient to meet the peak hot water demands throughout the RETAIL FOOD ESTABLISHMENT. Observed trash cans containing food residue being stored uncovered when not in continuous use. Trash cans containing food residue should be covered when not in continuous use. Floors, especially under shelving, is unclean and needs to be cleaned.
• WAL MART SUPERCENTER, 5501 S. Olive St. Date of inspection Oct. 29. Dairy frozen walk in cooler freezer door is not sealing properly. The walk in cooler door seal needs to be repaired so that it properly seals.
• WAL MART SUPERCENTER, deli/bakery, 5501 S. Olive St. Date of inspection Oct. 29. Observed opened, cut packages of deli meat with a discard date of more than 7 days being stored in the deli cooler. Food shall be discarded if it has not been used within 7 days. Deli meats were pulled to be discarded during inspection. Observed several bottles of chemicals throughout deli/bakery area being stored next to single use items and packaged foods. POISONOUS OR TOXIC MATERIALS shall be stored so they cannot contaminate FOOD, EQUIPMENT, UTENSILS, LINENS, and SINGLE-SERVICE and SINGLE-USE ARTICLES by separating the POISONOUS OR TOXIC MATERIALS by spacing or partitioning. Bottles of chemicals were moved to chemical storage areas during inspection. Floors in ware washing/prep area and the deli walk in cooler are visibly unclean. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean.
• PIZZA HUT, 7197 Sheridan Road, Ste. 104, White Hall. Date of inspection Oct. 28. Three compartment sink is visibly unclean. A warewashing machine be cleaned: (A) Before use; (B) Throughout the day at a frequency necessary to prevent recontamination of EQUIPMENT and UTENSILS and to ensure that the EQUIPMENT performs its intended function; and (C) If used, at least every 24 hours. Outside of fryers have visible accumulated debris. Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.
• SUBWAY, 3705 Camden Road. Date of inspection Oct. 29. Observed drink with no lid and straw. A closed BEVERAGE container if the container shall be handled to prevent contamination of. Drink was discarded during time of inspection. Observed chips stored directly on the floor. Food must be stored at least six inches above the floor to be stored in compliance with established regulations. At least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and service shall be certified food protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program.
• HR FOOD MART, 201 Edline, Altheimer. Date of inspection Oct. 29. Observed no paper towels at hand sink. Provide a supply of individual disposable towels or a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel or a heated-air drying device at each handwashing sink in food preparation, toilet and warewashing areas. Observation: Walls and ceiling are soiled in kitchen area. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Observation: Counter top needs to be cleaned. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Observation: Kitchen floors need cleaning. Facility needs to be clean. Corrective Action: Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean. No staff has CFM.
