The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:
• Country Chic Chocolate Co., 1522 S. Main St. Date of inspection March 30. Some cold-holding temperatures are out of safe temperature range (must be 41 degrees F or below).
• University Food Mart. 1702 University Drive. Date of inspection March 30. Make sure to keep towels at hand-washing sink.

• The Hook, 7203 Sheridan Road, Suite A, White Hall. Date of inspection March 29. Time not kept properly on food out of temperature. Food out of temperature was discarded or time was placed on it during inspection.
• Wendy’s, 2909 W. 28th Ave. Date of inspection March 29. Some cold-holding temperatures in two front prep tables, raw meat refrigerator, and walk in cooler are out of safe temperature range (must be 41 degrees F or below). Soap not observed at hand-washing sink in back. Soap should be provided at all hand-washing sinks. Observed chemical being stored directly next to single use cups. Chemicals should be stored separate from single use items. Chemical was moved during inspection. Observed employee touching raw beef patties and then touching spatula and container without washing hands in between. Hands should be properly washed when changing tasks. Employee washed hands during inspection. Paper towels not observed at hand washing sink in back. Paper towels should be provided at all hand washing sinks.
• Southern Edge Truck Stop, 9001 U.S. 63. Date of inspection March 27. All employee drinks in the food preparation area must have a lid and a straw.
