The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:
• Super 1 Foods, 1605 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection April 6. Hand-washing sink in meat department is blocked with cardboard boxes. Boxes should be moved and hand-washing sink should be maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use.
• Super 1 Foods deli, 1605 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection April 6. Observed bottles of chemicals in deli and bakery areas being stored next to meat slicer, boxes of food, and single service items. Bottles of chemicals should be stored separate from food and single service items. Chemicals were moved during inspection.

• Super 8 Motel, 1 Hospitality Lane, White Hall. Date of inspection April 5. Some cold-holding temperatures (yogurt) in breakfast room cooler out of safe temperature range (must be 41 degrees F or below). Yogurt was discarded during inspection.
• Touch of Elegance Bakery, 3015 W. 28th Ave. Date of inspection April 5. Observed some raw chicken being stored above ready-to-eat foods in freezer. Raw chicken was moved during inspection.
• Coffee Jones Internet Cafe, 815 University Drive, Suite B. Date of opening inspection April 4. Make sure to keep paper towels at hand-washing sink.
• Little Caesars, 5801 Dollarway Road, Suite B. Date of inspection April 4. Observed employee using hand-washing sink to fill a pitcher with water. Hand-washing sinks should only be used for washing hands. Observed chemicals being stored next to can goods in dry food storage area. Chemicals should be stored separate from food. Chemical bottles were moved to chemical storage area during inspection.
• Subway, 5401 S. Olive St., Suite 400. Date of inspection April 4. Make sure to keep paper towels at hand-washing sink.
• Mi Casita Tex Mex Restaurant, 1005 Sheridan Road, Redfield. Date of inspection April 3. All employee drinks in the food preparation area must have a lid and a straw.
• Pine Bluff Hibachi, 4804 Dollarway Road. Date of inspection April 3. Some cold-holding temperatures in prep area and refrigerator are out of safe temperature range (must be 41 degrees F or below). Observed raw meat being stored above ready-to-eat food in prep refrigerator and walk-in cooler. Raw meat should be stored below ready to eat foods.
