Tuesday marked the beginning of the one week filing period for Jefferson County school board candidates that runs until July 10 at noon.
Candidates will be able to file with the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday as well as on July 9.
The clerk’s office will be closed Wednesday in observance of Independence Day.
The Jefferson County Clerk’s office reported five candidates had filed as of 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Deputy Clerk Katherine Wooldridge said that the candidates included:
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
• Watson Chapel School District board vice president Sandra C. Boone and board secretary Ronnie Reynolds, both serving in at-large positions;
• White Hall School District board president Scott Pittillo, representing zone 2, and board member Dean Dancer, serving in an at-large position;
• Pine Bluff School District board president Herman Horace, representing zone 3.
