The Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council and two Extension Homemakers club in the county have earned state recognition.
The groups are among the 111 clubs and county councils being honored Wednesday, June 7, during the awards luncheon at the annual Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council state meeting at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
The county council and clubs are being recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities. They are state project book winners.
The state council is a volunteer organization associated with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service.

Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council – The Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council presented a holiday foods show, A Taste of the Holidays, for the public. Members demonstrated recipes or showed their completed dishes. A tasting followed. Approximately 200 people attended, including Extension Homemakers and family and consumer sciences agents from 10 counties. The Council members considered this a beneficial community service project, which involves leadership development and nutrition education.
Willing Workers of White Hall Extension Homemakers Club – The Willing Workers of White Hall Extension Homemakers Club was contacted by a representative of the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Kid’s First Day Care in Pine Bluff and asked to make them some kid’s cot sheets. They gathered old sheets, purchased some fabric, held several workshops and completed 50 sheets.
Heart-N-Hands Extension Homemakers Club – The Heart-N-Hands Extension Homemakers Club members assisted the Davis Live Care Center at Pine Bluff by donating $210 to help needy residents receive hair care and shaves. In addition, visits were made and handcrafted cards were sent to some of the residents.
