The Ivy Center for Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 913 University Drive. Students in 7–12th grades are invited to attend. Parents are always welcome.
Renisha Ward, a pre-health professions recruitment specialist with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences South Central at Pine Bluff, will begin a partnership with the Ivy Center College Readiness Program.
The goal is to mentor students who desire a career in the health profession. Ward will begin a series of learning sessions called “Club Scrub” which helps students to create an educational path into health-related careers.
Topics will include Introduction into Health Careers, MCAT/PCAT…What is that? Goal Setting, and Preparing Now for a career in Medicine Tomorrow.
She will provide academic advising and volunteering opportunities. After the six-month program, students will participate in a completion program where they receive their first white coat and stethoscope.
