Arkansas-Pine Bluff men’s basketball coach George Ivory said his interview at Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday went well, but an offer to take the same position there has not been extended.
Ivory, a Valley alumnus and former assistant coach there, is one of three finalists for the vacant position. The other candidates are interim coach Chico Potts and Tougaloo College (Miss.) assistant Harvey Wardell, a former Valley assistant.
Sean Woods left Valley earlier this spring to become head coach at Morehead State.
Ivory has a 49-79 record in four seasons at UAPB, including the 2009-10 SWAC tournament championship and an NCAA tournament game victory. Valley is the reigning SWAC champion.
