Ill-judged funding

Editor, The Commercial:

What is that old saying — Don’t bite off more than you can chew? Well, enough is enough isn’t it! Wonder exactly how many hundreds of thousands, or most likely enumerated in the millions, have gone down the drain at the guidance of Go Forward Pine Bluff with nothing really to show. Oh, I take that back. There are, apparently, unpaid bills to show for GFPB funding of the King Cotton Classic. Are there more?

We have already seen the results/verdict of one misdirected scam. Does it bring into question that there is more misguided funding for these on-again-off-again projects that never got off the ground? All the while Pine Bluff has business after business say “enough is enough, No. 1 Most Miserable City! I’m outta here.”

On another subject concerning Pine Bluff management, err a — Waste Mismanagement, what are the odds the mayor and much of the city council, apparently, are not having had issues with their personal waste service that the city/county has a contract with.

Until most recently, WM has a long record to have worked like clockwork. As a business partner, I would think they (WM) would take a call from the mayor who provides something over 15,000 paying customers. The mayor might ask — what can we do as a business partner to help get the partnership back on track? Has that question been presented? Certainly not the time for either party to put one’s head in a hole in hopes the problems go away. Is it?

Anyway, our saga continues. Hey GFPB! Any chance we can get our money back?

Mike Lankford,

Pine Bluff
