ICVR urges residents to register to vote

The Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. urges people to register to vote and announces a voter registration drive.

May 15 is the last day to register to vote before a June 13 special election. On that day, voters will decide on a proposed five-eighths cent sales tax increase to fund the Go Forward Pine Bluff initiative.

“ICVR encourages youngsters turning 18 on or before May 15th to register to vote by going to the Jefferson County Courthouse,” a spokesman said in a news release. “Citizens must be registered to vote 30 days prior to June 13th to be eligible to vote in the June 13th special election. As a result of the last day to register falling on the weekend, the deadline to register is May 15th.”

ICVR will conduct a voter registration drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Suite 109 of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.

Residents who are unsure about their voting location or their eligibility should call the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office at 870-541-5329 or visit the Voter Registration office in the courthouse prior to the special election.
