ICE wins gold at step competition

Male students from Pine Bluff, Watson Chapel and Dollarway high schools joined together to create (ICE) Individuals Concerning Education and recently won first place in The Borders step show at El Dorado. They competed against four collegiate teams.

Started in 2014 by Jeremy Harris and Bernard Iwegbu, ICE began mentoring students within the Pine Bluff area in hopes of grooming them into successful and college-ready young men by stressing the importance of education, brootherhood and community service, a spokesman said in a news release.

“Not only are they scholars, but they are advocates for the restoration of Pine Bluff. It is mandatory that these young men complete at least two community service projects every month. A few years and a few graduates later, we are still generating great results,” the spokesman said.

ICE is also known for its ability to step and entertain the masses.

“Because of their hard work and efforts, they have been invited across the state to compete at other venues with the same high-caliber competition,” the spokesman said.

All of the 14 graduating seniors plan to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in the 2016 fall semester. Details: Instagram @_pb.ice
