The Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center (SEAHDC) at Warren will hold a 40th anniversary ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. Former state Rep. John Lipton will give the keynote address. The public is invited to attend.
Warren Mayor Bryan Martin will give a proclamation and the Warren High School Junior ROTC color guard is presenting, according to a news release.
“There will also be a huge collection of photos available that shows the center’s past and its present,” according to the release.
Founded in 1978, the center provides vocational training and opportunities for people with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
“For 40 years, the center has helped clients, from throughout the state, reach a form of independence. That’s a big deal,” said SEAHDC Superintendent Mark Wargo. “We don’t overlook the fact that there are several people and organizations in Southeast Arkansas that help us fulfill our mission. So this event not only celebrates the center and its history, we’re also celebrating all the people from the community that generously help our staff and clients.”
SEAHDC is under the direction of the Department of Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities Services. The center offers direct or indirect services to residents, 24 hours a day, according to the release.
