Housing workshop set for April 16 in Eudora

A housing workshop aimed at seniors, homeowners and would-be homeowners is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, at the G.C. John Community Center room at the old elementary school campus, 901 Baker St. in Eudora.

The workshop will end at 2 p.m. The topics include Sections 502 and 504 of the rural development program and weatherization. Section 502 is the single-family housing loan program designed to help residents buy, build, repair, renovate, relocate or refinance a home. The Section 504 loan program is for general home improvements. The 504 grant program is aimed at seniors age 62 or older who wish to make their home accessible and useable for household members with disabilities or to remove health and safety hazards.

“Rural Development programs are not just for extremely low income individuals and families. Low- and moderate-income families qualify, too,” said Henry English, head of the Small Farm Program at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

The workshop is sponsored by the UAPB Small Farm Program in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development agency.
