Hit-and-run accident also resulted in alleged theft

A two-vehicle accident Monday night saw the driver of one of the vehicles leave the scene but not before allegedly taking money from the driver of the second vehicle. One of the vehicles also hit a house, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Robert London Jr., 88, of Pine Bluff, told police he was traveling east on West 13th Avenue in a 2005 Nissan, stopped at the stop sign on Linden Street, then proceeded across Linden Street where he hit a 2009 Dodge that was traveling south on Linden Street at what London said was “a high rate of speed.”

A separate police report quoted London as saying four young men got out of the Dodge after the accident and told him “his car is smoking and we need to get you out of the car.”

London told police the men helped him out of the car and sat him on the ground, then went back to the car, took $35 and left the scene before police arrived.

Damage to the car London was driving was estimated at $2,000.

Damage to the Dodge was estimated at $1,000.

London was issued a citation for failure to yield to the right of way at a stop sign.
