Historic District Commission tables request to demolish downtown building

The Pine Bluff Historic District Commission tabled a certificate of appropriateness request to demolish a building at 219 S. Main St., pending the property owner hiring an engineer to provide a scope of work.

Chris Warrior made the request on behalf of 219 S. Main St. owner Elvin and Sharon Moon. Warrior estimated the demolition would cost $15,000.

City of Pine Bluff Housing/Economic Development Specialist Sarah Price said the property shares a common wall, roof, stairwell and second-floor bathroom with 217 S. Main St.

Commissioner Dave Sadler said the request “was like separating conjoined twins. This is one baby.”
