The Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas presented an award to a Southeast Arkansas project at the Arkansas Preservation Awards presentation Friday, Jan. 9.
Rohwer Relocation Camp Cemetery in Desha County received an honorable mention in the Awards for Excellence in Preservation through Restoration.
The recognition was for restoration of the two most iconic monuments at the cemetery, which is the last physical remnant of the World War II Japanese American confinement site at Rohwer.
Johanna Miller Lewis of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock accepted the award on behalf of the project team, including WER Architects/Planners and Kinco Constructors.
