The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved a bid to reconstruct 5.1 miles of state Highways 4 and 4S, near Arkansas City in Desha County.
R. Thompson Inc. of Hamburg was awarded the contract at approximately $12.9 million, according to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.
State Highway 4 is part of the Arkansas Primary Highway Network and connects Arkansas City to the National Highway System via U.S. 65 in McGehee.
