Heavy rainfall expected over the next 2 days

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected once again Wednesday and Wednesday night. Rain will be heaviest over central and southern Arkansas. In this part of the state, two to more than four inches of rain could occur.

There will also be the possibility of severe weather, but an outbreak of severe storms is not expected. The main concern will be strong to damaging winds.

Given a saturated ground and ongoing river flooding, any appreciable rain will aggravate an already serious high water situation.

If expected precipitation amounts are realized, flash flooding will become likely, and flooding along the lower White, Ouachita, and Saline Rivers could worsen.

Rain will taper off on Thursday. After a brief period of dry weather Friday and Saturday, chances of rain will increase late in the weekend and early next week.
