The federal deadline for open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace is Sunday, Feb. 15, but the deadline in Arkansas is 2 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, because of differences in time zones, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr issued a reminder to Arkansans considering health insurance options.
“If consumers are interested in receiving tax credits to help pay their monthly premiums, the place to go is the Health Insurance Marketplace,” Kerr said in a news release. “The federal government will only provide income tax credits for Arkansas residents who enroll in marketplace plans.”
Consumers may also seek the help of a licensed insurance agent, broker or licensed assister.
